What to expect on campus during COVID-19

We’ll continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation in Ontario and follow public health direction. If we need to update any of our safety protocols, we’ll let all students and employees know.

Face masks

Face masks strongly recommended on campus

Information last updated on Nov. 14, 2022.

Dr. Kieran Moore, Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health, strongly recommends the use of face masks while indoors to help protect the most vulnerable, particularly young children and those at risk of infection and to help alleviate the growing pressure on the health care system.

Everyone is encouraged to wear a mask if they wish to do so and to stay home if you’re unwell. Georgian College will continue to monitor the situation and follow the guidance provided by our local public health authorities.

Anyone who wishes to wear a mask on campus will have their choice respected.

Vaccination

Vaccination is not mandatory to come to campus

Effective April 23, 2022, Georgian has rescinded the Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Procedure.

Vaccination is still strongly encouraged for all Georgian students and employees, but proof is no longer required to enter campus.

Students going on a work-integrated learning placement (e.g. co-op, field, clinical) are expected to adhere to any vaccination procedure implemented by the placement host or employer.

In Canada, if you’re five years of age or older, you’re eligible for a vaccine. In Ontario, you don’t need a valid Ontario health card to book your appointment.

To book your vaccine over the phone, call the provincial call centre at 1.833.943.3900.

You can also register online for a vaccination appointment. If you don’t have an Ontario health card and you live in Simcoe County or Muskoka, complete this online form to request a pseudo health card number for use in the vaccine registration form. Access more information on the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit COVID-19 vaccination webpage.
