What to expect on campus during COVID-19
Coming to campus during the winter 2023 semester? Please familiarize yourself with the information on this page before arriving on campus.
We’ll continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation in Ontario and follow public health direction. If we need to update any of our safety protocols, we’ll let all students and employees know.
Safety and screening
COVID-19 safety measures at Georgian
To support the health, safety and well-being of our Georgian community, everyone is encouraged to self-screen before coming to campus.
If you’re not feeling well for any reason, please stay home and do not come to campus. Use the provincial self-assessment tool and follow the guidance provided.
If you can’t attend campus, please refer to Georgian’s COVID-19 Reporting Protocol. Students are expected to contact their professor(s)/instructor(s), and employees are expected to contact their manager if they can’t attend campus.
When on campus, please wash your hands thoroughly and often.
Questions?
All questions regarding safety protocols shall be directed to Campus Safety Services at ohs@georgiancollege.ca or 705.722.1586.
Please note, safety protocols are subject to change based on public health and government guidelines.
Face masks
Face masks strongly recommended on campus
Information last updated on Nov. 14, 2022.
Dr. Kieran Moore, Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health, strongly recommends the use of face masks while indoors to help protect the most vulnerable, particularly young children and those at risk of infection and to help alleviate the growing pressure on the health care system.
Everyone is encouraged to wear a mask if they wish to do so and to stay home if you’re unwell. Georgian College will continue to monitor the situation and follow the guidance provided by our local public health authorities.
Anyone who wishes to wear a mask on campus will have their choice respected.

Vaccination
Vaccination is not mandatory to come to campus
Effective April 23, 2022, Georgian has rescinded the Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Procedure.
Vaccination is still strongly encouraged for all Georgian students and employees, but proof is no longer required to enter campus.
Students going on a work-integrated learning placement (e.g. co-op, field, clinical) are expected to adhere to any vaccination procedure implemented by the placement host or employer.
Information for those looking to get vaccinated
Please check with your local health unit to learn about nearby clinics and appointment options:
In Canada, if you’re five years of age or older, you’re eligible for a vaccine. In Ontario, you don’t need a valid Ontario health card to book your appointment.
To book your vaccine over the phone, call the provincial call centre at 1.833.943.3900.
You can also register online for a vaccination appointment. If you don’t have an Ontario health card and you live in Simcoe County or Muskoka, complete this online form to request a pseudo health card number for use in the vaccine registration form. Access more information on the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit COVID-19 vaccination webpage.
